Life is Short

February 16, 2024• 3 min read
The 1159LifeFaith

Two months ago my "honorary grandmother" (I don't have grandparents anymore so I've 'adopted' two grandmothers) passed away.

I heard today that a friend's sister died in a sudden car accident over the weekend.

Life is short.

We aren't promised tomorrow.

We only have this one moment in time, and that's it. That's all we know for sure.

And every day we wake up, well, that's a GIFT!

I've had several conversations this week where I've realized how important it is that we each take personal responsibility for our own lives and live with intentionality and focus - every single day.

We can control someone else's actions. Or their words. Or their decisions.

But we can control ours.

Where one person might have made a mistake and left hurt in their wake, we have the opportunity to learn from it and do it differently.

I'm reminded that Christ gave us life, and he came that we might have it more abundantly! (Luke 10:10)

So how am I living out the life I've been given, today?

We discussed Sphere of Influence yesterday at BOC (Band of Creatives), and again it hit me how much of an impact each of us has on those around us.

You don't always have to say something to influence someone.

Sometimes it's simply how you respond to a situation.

I know it sounds like I'm all over the place but here's what I've been pondering all day:

No matter how "influential" I think I might [not] be, no matter how big my aspirations or plans are, and no matter where I'm at in life right now, I have this one moment in time where I'm given a choice in how to live. How am I choosing to live?

Will it influence and impact those around me in a positive way or a negative way?

Does it leave those around me encouraged and excited to live a life of passion and purpose?

I can control my decisions, actions, and words. What am I doing with that ability?

Lots of questions, I know.

But to leave you with a little encouragement... YOU'VE GOT THIS THING!

You have such a cool opportunity and I'm stoked for you, friend!

I'm personally very grateful that you've been given the gift of life and are reading this today.

Thanks for being a friend to me, I appreciate you!

Have a splendid week!

You're doing awesome, friend!
