Two Lessons from April
I've learned two very simple, but somewhat profound lessons this week. I've known them, but didn't really apply them that much - and I've been seeing why I need to more.
- Seek to add value in every interaction - personal, business, ministry, etc.
This one might sound cliche, but I have experienced the overwhelming power of this lesson recently. I just wish I had applied it more rigorously, sooner.
To add value in every interaction, we have to first take the seat of humility. It takes acknowledging that we aren't perfect, aren't entitled to something from them, and it honestly takes a healthy dose of determination to learn and grow beyond where we're at.
It's crazy, but when you start to think in terms of adding value, the experience becomes so much more fulfilling.
It's humbling, because as I've applied this more in the last several weeks, I've realized how much humility I need, and how hard it is to get to that point of focusing on the other party more than myself.
But I know it's worth it and the right thing - so here's to giving 100% to growing in that.
- Treat every connection you have (person you know) as the most important person you know.
Relationships are a gift. And we never know (1) how long we'll have that person in our lives and (2) what we'll be able to accomplish together until we try.
And this plays off of the first lesson - approach each connection with the intent to add value to their lives, their businesses, and their pursuits more than you look to gain from them.
Trust me, it comes around. You don't have to try and get things from people.
You'll be taken care of, and have what you need, but start by adding value to their lives, and do it honestly, genuinely, and with integrity and honor.
Give 100% to every relationship. Go all in. Treat every interaction like it's the last you'll have.
Treat them like they're the most important person you know. Who knows, they
It's pretty humbling, but I have a long ways to go in this department.
I hope you have an AMAZING rest of your week!
