A Couple Weekend Thoughts
WHAT. A. WEEK.
I posted on X “history is wild when you’re living it” this weekend because it really blows my mind that in the future, we’re living and breathing a page from the history books.
Other than checking X every 10 minutes for the latest news, how was your week??
By the way, I should have emailed the Culture Index results to you, but if you didn’t get the email, just let me know! (and if anyone took it who is not on my email list, just email me and I’ll make sure they get their copy!)
A Couple Weekend Thoughts I literally just closed X (formerly Twitter … when will we stop saying that lol) and sat back to think of what to write.
After giving it some thought as I sip this cold brew, I’m going to share some thoughts from this past weekend.
I’m not going to share any assumptions or thoughts on motive.
I’m not going to share any links, images, or evidence to promote my own opinions of what happened.
What I am going to share comes from the heart of a young patriot - an American.
After the initial shock that the looping video in front of me was indeed of former President Trump being shot, I took to X (my primary news source these days) to check on the investigative journalists I follow.
Inevitably, misinformation began flying, quickly corrected by the X algorithm as updated information surfaced.
The comments of nearly every post were filled with an array of sentiments; some of anger toward the left, others toward the right, others toward foreign nations, others toward democracy, others toward out constitutional republic, and a few sprinkled in with sorrow and love (like 2… maybe).
Over the next 24 hours, I was shocked by those who would come out and endorse a republican nominee.
I began receiving emails from companies stating the CEOs’ support for Trump and readiness to leave political correctness behind in their companies and boldly state their personal beliefs.
This left me once again sitting back and thinking of my own stance on things and how I saw politics fitting into my own business.
As I designed the polos for our team (STOKED to be growing!!) and finalized my decision to put an American flag on the right sleeve of our polos, I again asked myself what place this had in my business.
I'm honestly tired of the politics.
I'm over the hate.
I'm eager to see the heart of America restored in our land.
The rights that this country was founded to protect and promote... THAT'S what I'm eager to see pursued with FERVOR.
The LIFE of ALL people created by our Creator.
The LIBERTY which under no other government in world history has been so protected and promoted.
The PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS (economic liberty) which allows each and every one of us, regardless of background or current lot in life, to prosper should we choose to pursue so.
This country, and everything that it represents, is the most incredible thing I (or anyone in history for that matter) have ever known.
But without a devotion to God, it is worth nothing.
Our Founding Fathers understood this and so have countless of our greatest leaders.
And we're at a crossroads.
Politically, yes.
Culturally, yes.
But more than anything, we are at a crossroads spiritually that is unmistakable.
I'm called to action after this weekend -- as I believe we all should be -- to be the change we desire to see.
(1) First is prayer.
Unless we humble ourselves and take to our knees, I can assure you that no amount of voting or letters written will effect the change we so desperately need in this country.
(2) Next is voting.
I’ve always voted, but I'll be voting carefully, and proudly, this election.
Not just for the President.
But for Senators, Representatives, Commissioners, School Board, and any & all other public offices that are up for election in my district(s).
(3) Third are conversations.
I’ll be engaging in more open, and deeper, conversations regarding the American government and the ideals of Liberty.
Not as a supporter of a particular candidate (though a red hat may be a clue at times ;)
But as an American who deeply -- and I mean DEEPLY -- desires to see changes made for the sake of my children, and their children.
This is the GREATEST nation on earth.
I FIRMLY believe it is the hand of God upon us that has allowed this "Great Experiment" to last this long.
His will be done, on earth as in Heaven.
And as long as we have something to fight for, to stand for, to protect; by golly you can count on seeing me there defending what God led our Founding Fathers to create for us.
And if He takes it away at some point, hey, I trust Him.
But until then, you'll see my blood is red, white, and blue :)
There is an understandable amount of fear and hate in all of us these days.
My encouragement is to find one, intentional way to show brotherly love and support this week.
Not only is that a fundamental Christian command, but because of that, it’s also as American as it gets.
I’m proud to be an American.
And I’m thrilled that the good Lord above allowed me to be born one.
God bless you, friend.
And God bless the United States of America.
