Always Adding Value
Today, I'd like to share one of them with you and a couple simple thoughts.
The Go-Giver was a simple, fun read, but it totally changed the way I view partnerships and business dealings, as well as daily living.
If you haven't read it, I HIGHLY encourage you to!!
The biggest takeaway was this; Focus on adding value to others without worrying about immediate personal gains.
See, so often I find myself in discussions where it's a struggle to take the high ground. Keep from being taken advantage of. Watch your back.
But I was reminded of the simple truth that adding value is not void of discretion.
Sure, there are absolutely sharks out there, and so we watch out for them.
But every time, every interaction, adding value should be the PRIMARY focus of our efforts.
Whether an employee, a business owner, a vendor; our job is to add value.
Everything else follows.
The second main highlight from the book supports this; Be genuine in our interactions.
It's crazy simple, but man, it's SO rare.
If you're not interested in a deal, or a job, or an opportunity, then don't show up.
Show respect for others by freeing them up to spend time with those who do want to be there.
And if you do show up, show up. Like all-in, focused, dedicated.
And when adding value, be genuine. Add real value and be you.
The book talks a lot about this in the later chapters, so worth reading!
** That's all what I had to tell myself after reading that book, because in a lot of ways, I didn't have laser-like focus on adding value, nor was I always genuine. And so, changes had/have to be made. Learn, apply, share.
The last several weeks have been inspiring and life-changing.
As I started making micro adjustments, first to my mindset, and secondly to my outputs (interactions with clients, potential business partners, even dead leads) I started noticing a massive shift in the relationships - for the BETTER.
I have so far to go, but man, this simple lesson has been insanely huge and to already see the impact is incredible.
Learn, apply, share.
Next phase: apply rigorously and ruthlessly in my personal life.
Stoked to see the results.

I hope you have an AMAZING rest of your week!
