Momentum Does Not Heed Feelings

December 17, 2025• 3 min read
The 1159GrowthLeadership

Not great, but I know my weaknesses, and I'm working hard to overcome them.

That said, we are not here at the end of 2025 because I felt great all year.

We're here somehow, by God's grace, because the teams involved in all my crazy adventures kept moving the ball forward - one yard at a time.

I am not happy with where we landed this month, to be honest - I fell short of nearly every goal I had.

That said, I realized this morning that we should be so much further BEHIND than we are today.

And that really hit me hard.

Trying doesn't do anything - only doing.

You either do or you don't.

And deserving something - no.

We deserve nothing; we earn or are given to, but never do we deserve a thing.

And more than that, feelings are just that - feelings.

Feelings were a ROLLERCOASTER this year.

You can have them.

They didn't get us here.

The action on the days when feelings had me paralyzed is what got us here.

And most times, it was the actions of the team members, not FEELING the downslope, that carried the team that day.

And that is why the team you choose is essential.

Consistent action daily is what drives success and maintains momentum.

You can't be that consistent alone.

At least I can't be.

I've been failing all year.

But having a team, small as we are, that can consistently move forward on the days I'm down, and allow me to move us forward on days they're down - that's something insanely special.

Momentum does not heed feelings.

It follows action.

And in some ways, it rewards teams who stick up for each other.

2026 is going to, by far, be the best year ever.

It's not because it felt good all of 2025.

But because every team member in my life, personal and business, kept moving the needle, especially on days when I couldn't do it myself.

And that's how we get to this point - behind in many ways, but ahead in so many more... namely, relationships.

I still plan to finish the year strong, but 2026 holds some serious next chapter goodness that I'm stoked for.

From DVT to DHL, MPS to CVLLC, we have some major irons in the fire that are getting red.

It's about to get good.

All in due time, and only ever by teamwork and endurance.

But remember, feelings last only for a little while - action, daily, is what truly matters.
