Random Thoughts on Momentum
See, projects are still cruising, new opportunities are still in strong talks, revenue hasn’t dipped, prospects are still coming in, we’re making breakthroughs this week that are blowing my mind.
By the grace of God.
Momentum is quite obvious right now in everything we’re doing and I’m realizing some pretty neat things about it.
First, it’s about consistency in the little things.
Nothing that is going super well right now just happened this week.
Some of these incredible things have been 27-50+ months in the making.
That’s wild.
But the consistent pursuit, and constant forward progression is the key - and while I most definitely have not done it the best, I’m learning the importance of it right now.
The other thing that has been that transparency builds trust and trust builds partnerships.
Partnership is the most essential element to success in business.
Bad partnership, bad business, no success.
Good partnership, good business, likely success.
Great partnership, great business, total success.
What makes a great partnership?
Trust. Total givenness to making the other better than yourself. Humility. Communication. Willingness to learn, grow, adapt. Positivity in the face of any storm. … Trust. Trust. Trust.
And if you think about it, every relationship you have, can and should be viewed as a partnership.
Your boss, your colleagues, your vendors, gosh even your mailman - if you treat these all as high priority relationships and partnerships, they will yield fruit.
The key, prefer others above yourself, with no thought of gain for yourself - be a go-giver, not a go-getter.
I’m realizing that these simple things set the stage for momentum that carry through the lowest of lows.
It’s like a flywheel (Jim Collins has a super good writing on this) and once it gets started (hardest, longest part) - ha, it’s pretty stellar.
So, with that, what’s something you can do this week (keep it small), that will begin building momentum for the future?
