The Way Things Are…

September 29, 2025• 4 min read
The 1159Faith

In an unplanned time of responding to God in church this past Sunday, one of the men in our church, Josh, stood up and shared that line.

"The way things are, is not the way things have to be."

I was pretty shaken by both the profundity in that statement as well as the level of conviction that raced through me as I sat there, eyes closed, taking in the words he was sharing.

How many things in my life have I just accepted as they are?

From chronic illnesses, to generational curses, to situations out of my control.

I'm a son of God, having access to everything I need for life and godliness, and yet, I continue to live too often as if what I'm able to control and change is all there is to life.

What about the redeeming work of God?

What about His never ending, never changing grace which He pours out so freely to those who believe?

I long for more.

I crave it actually.

I want so badly to experience the wonder-working power of God in my life.

But more than just to experience it as a feeling, to have it be a daily part of my life; who I am, what I do, and what I speak.

And to experience it?

It begins with humility.

And as I sit here even writing this, I'm feeling first hand why so many of us don't experience the fullness of what God wants to do.

I have so much pride inside of me.

There is so much doubt, not in His ability, but in questioning if He even will.

I don't know what it takes, but I'm desperate for more of Christ.

There is no amount of fulfillment in this world that comes close to the life I have experienced in Him.

No amount of pleasure has even compared a little with the overwhelming joy that He gives, especially in the midst of trials and hardships.

I'm desperate for more of Him.

I know with certainty that we are on the brink of the largest generational breakthrough in at least a couple hundred years.

This is true in business; as we see the largest transfer of wealth take place right now, in front of our very eyes.

This is true in government; as we see more and more young people wake up and join the fight for individual rights and the protection of our freedom.

And most importantly, this is true in matters of spirituality; as I see hearts being broken before the Word, and families rising up - together - to declare truth.

I don't want to miss out on any of the above.

But I realize it starts with humility.

So that's where today finds me, realizing I have so much need, but also realizing that the need cannot be met or fulfilled fully until I empty myself and give it all to Christ - daily.

I'm praying for more - in fact, I'm praying for more in your life too.

I'm praying over each name in my subscriber list today, so please know, I did pray for you today, friend - by name.

Let's not forget that the way things are, is not the way things have to be.

We CAN pray for breakthrough (did yesterday on my short 2 mi walk).

We CAN pray for healing (praying over 3 of you specifically today actually).

We CAN pray for provision (He, as our Provider, provides through us by His grace).

We can pray, because He not only hears and listens intently, but because our God also answers prayers and gives good gifts to His children.

The way things are, is not the way things have to be.

In the mighty name of Jesus.
